Purpose
Overview

IT-ITeS Sector Skill Council (IT-ITeS SSC) was set-up as an education and skill development initiative in 2012 by Nasscom, the premier industry association and Chamber of Commerce for the IT-BPM sector in India. IT-ITeS SSC Nasscom works under the aegis of the National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC), Ministry of Skills and Entrepreneurship Government of India (MSDE GOI). As an integral part of Nasscom, IT-ITeS SSC works with industry members, academia, MeitY, MSDE, MOE, AICTE, UGC, School and State Missions and the skill development ecosystem to help improve the quality and quantity of the employable workforce available to this industry. .

Mission

IT-ITeS SSC Nasscom's overarching goal is to bridge the talent demand - supply gap for the IT-ITeS industry by improving the employability through certification based upskilling and reskilling programs, supporting academia to create more industry relevant programs by providing industry connects, designing industry validated curricula based on current and future job roles as well as supporting vocational training for IT-ITeS skills in schools, colleges, training institutes and companies.

Role of IT-ITeS SSC Nasscom:

  • • To create a sustainable industry-ready talent pipeline by scaling quality capacity and being future-ready.
  • • To enhance employability at all levels, leveraging technology and our experience in large-scale skill development, in a sustainable manner across skill sectors.
  • • To nurture diversity and inclusive growth to stimulate economic activity relevant to the local ecosystem.
  • • Create the platform and infrastructure for continuous learning and skilling and upskilling, to actively create and participate in the new Digital World.
  • • Develop and deploy occupational standards for the industry.
  • • Enable cross-functional, multidisciplinary, and inter-sectorial job standards.
  • • Enable University transformation toward a future-ready digital talent.
  • • Conduct faculty development and subsequent student training.
  • • Promote employability assessments; standardize Qualifications and Occupational Standard assessments and certification.
  • • Develop foundation and specialization courses across industry verticals.
  • • Develop QA, accreditation norms, and processes for occupational standards and related certifications, relevant programs/courses, training institutions.
  • • Recommendations on standardization of affiliation and accreditation processes in collaboration with relevant stakeholder(s).

The SSC, as part of Nasscom, is specifically tasked with reskilling and upskilling India’s workforce to ensure that the talent is future-ready in terms of new-age skills and jobs. SSC Nasscom sits squarely at the center of all talent development initiatives along with Future Skills.
