NASSCOM Summit

On Friday, Nasscom executives rang the closing bell on Nasdaq, 15 years after the apex body of Indian IT industry rang it in 2002. Nasscom President R Chandrasekhar, executives including Raman Roy, Ganesh Natarajan and Murugesh were present at the event. Nasscom had earlier forecast the IT industry to achieve $350 billion by 2025, from the present $153 billion driven by strong and stable fundamentals. The contribution of Business Process Management (BPM) sector stands at about $30 billion and is heading to $50 billion by 2020.

SSC NASSCOM Launches Talent Demand Supply Reports

With a focus on bridging the employability gaps within the industry, IT-ITeS Sector Skills Council NASSCOM (SSC NASSCOM) announced the launch of the India IT-BPM Industry Talent Demand and Supply Report 2016. The report highlighted the requirement of introducing planned skill sets at an academic level to prepare job ready graduates for the industry, with the talent requirement shifting from ‘academic qualification’ based hiring to ‘skill, knowledge and expertise’ based hiring. India is currently the world’s largest global sourcing destination with around 3.7 million people directly employed by the IT ITeS industry. The report also mentioned that with industry hiring models expected to change the next USD 100 billion revenues would require 1.2-2 million professionals. We hope these reports will add value to the various stakeholders involved in skilling efforts w.r.t. the IT-BPM industry!

SSC NASSCOM inks a MoU with ISACA

The cyber security skills shortage is impacting organizations throughout India and around the globe, with employers reporting difficulties hiring skilled candidates and preparing for cyber security threats. In fact, a recent study by ISACA and RSA Conference found that it often takes more than six months to fill a cyber security position—and even then, the majority of hiring managers (59%) say fewer than half of their cyber security candidates are sufficiently skilled upon hire. To combat this problem, IT-ITeS Sector Skills Council NASSCOM (SSC NASSCOM) and Data Security Council of India (DSCI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with global IT and cyber security association ISACA. SSC NASSCOM and DSCI are developing a long-term road map for cyber security skills development in India, and ISACA will lend its expertise in this area to help drive this goal.

SSC NASSCOM Skilling Efforts @ Rashtrapati Bhavan

SSC NASSCOM is glad to share that Rashtrapati Bhavan employees participated in the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) across 18 job roles, as part of a programme being implemented by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. President. In all, 1,500 employees of Rashtrapati Bhavan have been roped in for the undergoing trainings in various job roles which include gardeners, drivers, room attendants, housekeeping, electrical works, plumbers, carpenters, painters, security guards, office assistants, data entry operators, cooks and laundry men, among others. Launch of Transnational Standards

Launch of Transnational Standards’ in presence of Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship on 5th April in New Delhi. SSC NASSCOM along with NSDC & 14 other SSCs had participated in UK-India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI) in London from 11-15 January 2016 with the objective of mapping & benchmarking Indian National Occupational Standards against UK National Occupational Standards. The mapping efforts for the five identified IT-ITeS job roles, namely, Associate – Analytics, Software Developer, Test Engineer, Security Analyst, Infrastructure Engineer has been successfully completed w.r.t. to domain with 100% compliance and these standards were launched at this event.

SSC NASSCOM collaborates with DTE Maharashtra

SSC NASSCOM has signed a MoU with Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Maharashtra to launch ‘Employability Enhancement’ programs. The academic programs developed by SSC NASSCOM included in this endeavor are ‘Global Business Foundation Skills’ (GBFS), ‘Foundation Skills in Information Technology’ (FSIT), as well as Qualification Pack (Job Role) based programs. The strategic alliance with DTE aims to offer these programs to undergraduate students either as an add-on to an existing course, or as an elective course, with the goal to enhance their employability skills. This initiative is expected to be rolled out to students in select universities and colleges in Maharashtra.

New Courseware Developed

Date: Dec. 16, 2015 Location: 10th Annual Information Security Summit 2015, New Delhi.

SSC NASSCOM has embarked on a program to build Cyber / Information Security Skills to support the ecosystem. Under this initiative, SSC NASSCOM & DSCI in partnership with relevant players has undertaken cyber security related QP development, curriculum alignment, courseware development, training of trainers and institutional / personal assessments and certifications thereof, equivalent to their international counterparts. SSC NASSCOM is glad to announce that the first Cyber / Information Security Skill courseware named ‘Security Analyst’ has been developed. The courseware includes a Facilitator Guide and Student Handbook which outlines the pedagogical approach and learning methodologies that aims to empower students with the requisite competencies in this Qualification Pack (QP) / job role. This is a collective effort of the following companies, namely – Symantec, First America, Karvy Analytics, Cyber Eye & DSCI. The courseware had a soft launch on side-lines of AISS 2015 [ 10th Annual Information Security Summit 2015 ] in New Delhi.

Train-the-Trainer program completed

The strategic alliance with the university aims to offer these program to all undergraduate students as an elective course at the university to enhance the employability skills of these students. SSC NASSCOM Training Partner Meet @ Delhi

SSC NASSCOM invited the PMKVY Affiliated Training Partners for a deep dive session on the various skill building programs led by SSC NASSCOM. 100+ Training Partners participated in the two sessions. On 28th October a face to face session was organised at India Habitat Centre in New Delhi where 60+ Training Partners participated. And on 29th October a online session was hosted on WebEx for Training Partners who could not join the meeting in person, here again 40+ Training Partners participated. The sessions were led by Dr. Sandhya Chintala, Executive Director SSC NASSCOM & Vice President NASSCOM, along with the remaining SSC NASSCOM operations team. The feedback has been positive and we look forward to hosting more sessions with our training partners in the future.

NASSCOM Engineering Summit

F&A Courseware Launched @ NASSCOM BPM Summit

As per NASSCOM Strategic Review 2015, Finance & Accounting is one of the key segments for the Business Process Management (BPM) sub-sector, which has 22% share in the BPM exports which aggregate to USD 117 billion. To ensure that India is ready to meet the projected year on year growth of 11% in BPM exports, it is imperative that a talent pipeline is also ready to meet the growing demand required from industry in the future. With the above task in hand, SSC NASSCOM is glad to announce that courseware has been developed with the collective efforts of a special interest group for ‘Associate–Transactional F&A’ in the Finance & Accounting occupation. The courseware includes a Facilitator Guide and Student Handbook which outlines the pedagogical approach and learning methodologies that aims to empower students with the requisite competencies in this Qualification Pack (QP) / job role. This is a collective effort from the following key BPM companies, namely – Accenture Services, EXL Service, Genpact, HP, Infosys BPO, Wipro and WNS Global Services. The courseware was launched on side-lines of NASSCOM BPM Summit.

Building Cyber Security Skills – TAT session

DSCI & SSC NASSCOM facilitated the first Cyber Security TAT workshop on 17th July 2015. Career Guides for IT-BPM industry launched @ Delhi

SSC NASSCOM has developed ‘Career Guides’ which will provide clarity for all stakeholders, especially students, about the career opportunities available in the IT-BPM industry. On 2nd February 2015 these Career Guides were launched by honorable Minister for Skills Development & Entrepreneurship Mr Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Mr JP Rai – Director General NSDA, Mr Dilip Chenoy – MD & CEO NSDC, Mr R Chandrasekaran – Group Chief Executive Cognizant Technology Solutions & Chairman NASSCOM, Mr BVR Mohan Reddy – Founder, Chairman & CEO Cyient & Vice Chairman NASSCOM, Mr R Chandrashekhar – President NASSCOM, Mr Samir Yagnik, COO Tata Technology. Career Guides are a key milestone in SSC NASSCOM’s mission to create a talent pool for the IT-BPM industry. According to the National Skills Mission, about 350 million professionals would need to be skilled by 2022 to make them employable. To be able to achieve this target, a structured approach is required involving all stakeholders. One of the critical actions required is to create awareness with students about the career opportunities available in the IT-BPM industry across the four sub-sectors, namely IT Services (ITS), Business Process Management (BPM), Software Products (SPD) and Engineering & Research Development (SPD).

SSC NASSCOM participates in 18th National E-Governance Conference & Expo

SSC NASSCOM was invited to participate in the 18th National e-Governance Conference & Expo at Gandhinagar, Gujarat on 30th & 31st January 2015. The main theme of the Conference was “Digital Governance – New Frontiers” with “Skill Development & Employability” as Focus Sector. The Conference served as an effective forum in which IT Secretaries of the State Governments, IT Professionals, Software Solution Providers, Industry, Academia participated, interacted, exchanged opinions and views, discussed issues and problems as also analyzed various solution frameworks. NASSCOM was the knowledge partner for this event and SSC NASSCOM participated at the expo.
